Katie Gjovig | An Ambrose Township Record

Katie Gjovig grew up on a farm outside of Torquay, SK in Canada, only about a half a mile from the American border. She was one of the youngest of 13 children. She talks about growing up in Canada before she met the love of her life, Hank Gjovig, on a blind date and immediately fell for him. She talks fondly of Hank and the life and love they shared together, raising 6 kids in Ambrose, ND before they built a house on the Gjovig Farm. She was an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother and always put everyone else above herself. She was a talented cook and baker and never let anyone leave her house with an empty stomach. She had a great sense of humor and a very quick wit. She was the best grandma to me for 26 years before she unfortunately passed in January of 2022. I treasured her so very much and owe so much of who I am to her. She helped raise me to be the person I am today. Katie Gjovig was a wonderful person and touched every person's heart that came into her life. She will never be forgotten.
